17.48 - Big business benefits from and lobbies for big Government to the detriment of the consumer, the competitor and the tax payer.

20.28 – Technology could be our undoing or it could be our liberation. We’ll have to wait and see.

Investors and travelers, take note.

Key Takeaways

03.05 – Off-shore banking opportunities for Americans are so few, and they’re getting fewer still.

04.55 – Bank in the place where you’re treated best. This likely isn’t where you’re living now.

07.35 – We have these impressions about certain countries, but maybe it’s better to have a rethink.

14.24 – Diversification means having some of your eggs outside of the US basket.

19.28 – Remember: just having some money in an off-shore account works as a great stepping stone.

21.10 – You have a number of options when it comes to getting a second passport; make the most of them.

23.35 – If you choose to obtain a residency, Panama is a great option for Americans.

They discuss a variety of topics and consider frankly just how bleak America’s future could look. Robinson also gives his opinion on the impact of America’s international relations, as well as posing the interesting notion that we can see the path of America’s future by looking at the past of the rest of the world.

06.09 – In a number of ways, the 2014 picture we draw now looks very similar to the state of the world in 1914.

15.01 – No-one does anything for nothing. A closer look at the incentives can provide a lot of insight.

21.04 – The psychological impact of the economy is already taking an effect. People now expect prices and values to go up, and are surprised if they don’t.

27.20 – Maybe we need to reassess our definition of evil to better match today’s global situation.

31.15 – If the relationship between the US and Saudi Arabia changes, it could change the entire balance of power in the Middle East.

33.15 – Exports are always going to be vital, and we need to consider the impact if the US becomes energy-independent.

40.57 – International threats, and especially those involving cyber-attacks, must be taken seriously. Even if you’re living in a city, know the precautions you can take.

45.09 – Find out about Jerry Robinson’s Five Levels of Financial Freedom at www.FTMDaily.com/fivelevels.

Craig Nelson is a New York Times bestseller and is jam packed with informational facts and stories about nuclear physics and the people behind it. He talks to Jason today about his new book The Age of Radiance and how nuclear power has changed our lives for better and for worse.

Key Takeaways:

4:00 – Nuclear science has a lot of bad press, but it has done many great things and, some would say, it has even prevented wars.

7:30 – Craig tells a fantastic story of 4 teenagers who grew up only a couple of KM from each other and ended up meeting later in life through their work within the atomic field.

9:12 – Fun fact, John Von Neumann would read and drive at the same time and would often crash his car.

10:41 – The people who developed atomic weapons were refugees from Hitler. A question people often ask is, “What happened if Hitler had the atomic weapons first?”

14:30  - According to Craig, if you look at the Dr. Strangelove movie, a lot of what happened in the movie was true or came true.

18:15 – The most frighten experiment in the US took place on Bikini Atoll and that's how the bikini swimsuit came to be.

22:20 – Nuclear in America has become such a burden in the US because you need federal funds to build the plant, maintain it, and fix it. Tax payers simply don't want to spend that money.

23:45 – Find an author who's writing similar books as you and find out who their agent is. Contact their agent and work from there. People tend to get rejected because they're sending their book to the wrong people.

27:05 – Times have changed drastically for physical books. Authors don't need to tour any more with the use of the internet.

With Ebola’s implications, causes and threats weighing heavily on many people’s minds, Jason Hartman invites Libertarian Candidate Dr Lee Hieb to give her professional opinion on the situation. Together, they discuss some of the potential solutions to alleviating the situation, as well as considering what could have been done better at the point of outbreak. Hieb also talks about changing attitudes to her party and why these are so important.

Key Takeaways

02.30 – Jason Hartman asks the question everyone is thinking: Ebola – real threat or just a lot of hype?

03.19 – If we’re going to stop the spread of Ebola, we have to stop the movement of people.

06.42 – We have found some treatment options for Ebola, but if we reach a level where we have thousands of victims, it’s just not feasible.

08.19 – Increasing your vitamin D levels can go a long way to increasing your overall health, with studies even linking it to lower cancer risks.

15.28 – Don’t be fooled into thinking Ebola spreads like HIV – it is far more easily spread and there’s a lot we still don’t know about it.

22.00 – Now there are some fears about if we use the military and impose martial law as an excuse to ‘fix’ other issues.

26.02 – Hospitals in the US simply don’t have the training or the equipment to be able to deal with this disease.

27.52 – Members of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons believe that medicine is between a doctor and a patient, not a doctor, patient and a government bureaucrat.

30.25 – The Libertarian party and its values is starting to be better understood by the American people.

35.00 – More information about Dr Lee Hieb and her campaign can be found at www.Hieb2014.org

In today’s Holistic Survival Show, host Jason Hartman invites health and wellbeing expert, Jenny Craig, to talk about her new book, to discuss her business strategy and to talk about what children really learn from their parents’ actions regarding food and exercise.

Key Takeaways

02.30 – Children remember what they see, and parents who think they can convince their children to eat healthily while they eat fast food are simply delusional.

05.50 – The initial success of Jenny Craig rested on seeing what the rest of the market was doing and finding a way to distinguish the business from everything else out there.

09.05 – You can’t just have a good idea; you need to have the quality there too, and especially if it’s related to what people are eating.

14.45 – In an organization, every member has to have a different skillset and has to bring something new to the team.

19.05 – Franchising is an area where you have to be willing to put in full commitment to everything you do, and for some people, it’s just not the right path.

25.50 – If you have to deal with a government official who is so strictly adhering to nonsensical rules, they can totally ruin your business.

26.50 – One of the best ways to eat more healthily is to get over the misconception that rich ingredients like butter add flavor. The spicing and seasoning is what gives the flavor.

34.08 – Jenny’s latest book, I Believe in Genevieve, can be purchased at independent and nation-wide bookstores, as well as online at www.amazon.com

In the today’s Holistic Survival Show, Jason Hartman speaks to author and former Department of Justice attorney, Sidney Powell. Together, they dive into some of the most scandalous and outrageous cases which have based through the Department of Justice in recent decades. Step-by-step, they overview several of the cases featured in Powell’s book Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice and consider the true state of our society.

Takeaways

01.00 – Sidney Powell’s book, Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice, deals with some of the most scandalous and historic events to come out of the United States’ Department of Justice.

09.20 – Within the Merrill Lynch case, it got to the point where favourable statements were hidden for six years while four Merrill Lynch executives were sent to prison without even a listed criminal offence.

13.00 – Sometimes there are two sides to a story and you need to dig a little deeper to find out what really happened.

16.55 – You have to question when a judge says he’s never had such a fine person before him for sentencing, and then passes a sentence.

20.20 – www.pogo.org (Project on Government Oversight) has identified over 400 instances of misconduct by prosecutors in the last decade.

22.00 – Despite having a criminal conviction against his name a few days before the re-election, Ted Stevens only lost his place on the Senate by a few votes.

27.45 – The Bar associations are less than useless in these situations because they just give the same response.

32.00 – Judge Sullivan is turning around the Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the IRS and doing his best to achieve a just result.

34.10 – There are too many aspects of the IRS case that just seem conveniently timed for it to be believable.

34.40 – Many of Sidney’s articles about these issues can be found at www.Observer.com

36.40 – If the IRS is being used to target political opponents, who gave that order?

38.45 – Information about the book and how to purchase it can be found at www.LicensedtoLie.com. Tweet Sidney using the handle @SidneyPowell1 and be sure to ‘like’ Licensed to Lie on Facebook.

Jeff DeGraff joins the show today with Jason Hartman. DeGraff is a professor for the University of Michigan's Ross Business school and has worked extensively in teaching innovation. Today, he joins the show to talk a little bit about his new book called, “Making Stone Soup: How to Jumpstart Innovation Teams” and how it can help you succeed in your business venture.

Key Takeaways:

  • 1:35 – Companies are struggling with innovation on a team level and his new book, Making Stone Soup, talks about some of these challenges and how they can over come it.
  • 4:25 – When you look at the history of innovation, most of these come from conflicting ideas or completely new hybrid ideas to try and make something better.
  • 7:15 – Forget the 80/20 rule. Innovation uses the 20/80 rule.
  • 11:25 – When you look at the patent timeline, it is more incremental than ever before. Jason asks, “Is it because everything has already been invented?”
  • 15:00 – Remember, you're catering to a completely new generation. Millennials experience the world in a completely different way now.
  • 20:00 –  DeGraff breaks down the four important elements that make innovation happen.
  • 23:00 – Tip: Focus on something that works. Do not focus on trying to fix something that's broken.
  • 27:00 – You can not start something new unless you give up something you're currently doing. We simply can't do it all at once.
  • 28:15 – As you are trying to build or invent something for the first time, remember that you need multiple versions of it before you can truly succeed.

Today’s Holistic Survival Show focuses on the ever-changing industry of manufacturing. Your host, Jason Hartman, talks with the President and Executive Director of The Alliance for American Manufacturing, Scott Paul. They discuss topics from moving this industry overseas, to the changing situation over history and even to the impact and potential for change due to 3D printers, with Scott Paul giving his experienced overview on each.

Key Takeaways

02.20 – The manufacturing market is so vast – it includes both the larger products such as fridges, and the smaller parts you don’t see, such as packaging or car parts.

05.30 – If a US steel plant were to move to China, the percentage increases of output pollutants are staggering.

07.00 – Manufacturing is one of the most important and effective ‘multiplier’ industries in the United States.

13.50 – The situation has changed prettily drastically since the 1990s and that’s not necessarily a good thing.

19.00 – We’re also putting ourselves in a risky security situation due to our total dependence on one manufacturing company in China.

24.20 – Putting money into improving the US infrastructure would be a very wise investment.

25.10 – Find out more information about Scott Paul and his work at www.AmericanManufacturing.org and on Twitter using the handle @KeepItMadeinUSA

29.00 – Germany is in a particularly good position right now, in terms of manufacturing, even though its average compensation manufacturing is almost 20% higher than that of the United States.

34.10 – Manufacturing has the potential to be transformed with the innovation of 3D printing.

Dr Allen Francis joins Jason Hartman on today’s Holistic Survival Show to discuss the importance of changing diagnosis methods in the US and the drug usage trends resulting from this. As the situation currently standard, the number of people dependant on anti-depressants, anti-anxiety drugs and anti-psychotic drugs is truly staggering - a topic which Francis attempts to explain and understand.

Key Takeaways

02.20 – In America, the current statistics for the usage of anti-depressant or psychiatric medication are quite staggering.

04.20 – By advertising directly to consumers, drug companies are now making billions of dollars in unnecessary prescriptions.

08.10 – Ideally, the same disassociation will occur with drug companies as has occurred with big tobacco companies over the last 2 decades.

09.40 – A simple change of paying primary care doctors more and giving them more time with patients could transform medical standards in the US.

13.50 – A ‘let’s hope for the best’ mentality only serves to cause more problems.

15.45 – The debates on mass shootings and the motivation behind them always falls to more generalized gun crime, rather than on what drugs were being taken.

17.30 – Comparing the varying medical markets and systems of the US to other countries such as Egypt yields some unbelievable results.

19.30 – DSM-5 turns everyday issues into massive diagnosable health concerns.

21.25 – The guidelines mean that everyone who is a specialist sees their specialty in everybody.

Best-selling author and creator of the SIGMA book series, James Rollins, uses his latest novel ‘The 6th Extinction’ as the basis for today’s Holistic Survival Show. He and host, Jason Hartman, discuss some of the latest scientific advances, the potential for human immortality and the impact of our actions on this race as a whole.

Key Takeaways

01.45 – The latest instalment of the SIGMA series deals with the very real concept of an impending extinction on the scale of the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs.

02.20 – The inspiration for many of today’s novels comes from scientific discoveries and advances that have a real bearing on our lives. The fact that 30,000 species become extinct every year cannot be overlooked.

02.48 – With the notion of the sixth extinction, the main difference is that we, humans, seem to be the cause, and there are some authorities on the matter who believe we only have one or two generations until it happens.

04.30 – Only 1 out of 10 cells in our body has human DNA in it.

06.10 – Scientists are now at a point when they can create from scratch. Designer yeast is one of the more recent creations, but what’s next?

08.00 – Novice scientists can be a part of the Bio-Punk movement by paying $40 and receiving some genetically modified weed seeds that glow in the dark.

10.10 – In these situations, it’s not a case of if something bad will happen; it’s a question of when.

11.00 – IGEM programs are even allowing for High School students to get involved in the field.

12.50 – Where computer code hacking used to be at the forefront, it’s now being taken over by this new and growing trend of hacking into gene codes.

13.17 – 2040 is now predicted to be the year that man becomes immortal – to a degree or almost doubling our life expectancy.

13.50 – For more information about the books, visit www.jamesrollins.com, and there’s even an advice section for aspiring writers. James is also very active on his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/sigmaforce

Author, Frank Miniter, joins Jason Hartman to discuss many of the themes that come up in his latest book, The Future of the Gun. Having extensively researched his book by talking with experienced gunsmiths and former New York gang members alike, Miniter is well-placed to be able to shed light on some of the issues and questions surrounding gun crime in the United States. He also notes how wide the disparity is between the reality we know and the media’s presentation of reality.

Key Takeaways

01.18 – The Future of the Gun by Frank Miniter takes views from historians to gang members to go against the problem of misinformation about guns in America.

03.20 – The situation is now at the point where former gang members can identify the solution, but will the world listen?

04.50 – Often it feels like the situation is self-perpetuating: streets become more impoverished because those able to spend money don’t go to those areas of the cities.

05.40 – Race has a huge impact, as does a desire not to be seen in a certain way for prosecuting minority groups.

07.00 – A group is set up in Pennsylvania where a local school teacher takes inner-city kids, helps them improve their grades and teaches them responsibility about gun-use.

10.00 – Huge numbers of Americans are gun-owners, and many of them use them as a practicality and a hobby in shooting and hunting clubs.

11.00 – The media focus always places the blame on the guns, so to combat that, the National Shooting Sports Foundation attempts to get mental health records put on databases.

12.25 – The hypocrisy of the elite with regards to guns is quite remarkable.

14.05 – Perhaps we should consider what real threat the government poses to US citizens that gives cause for such high levels of gun ownership.

16.40 – Governments preach about equality, but guns really produce the only equality and equal situations.

15.45 – With technological advances, the gun is moving from being a 19th Century invention to a 21st Century innovation.

20.00 – Schools and public locations such as cinemas which specifically say ‘No firearms’ are still some of the biggest targets for mass shootings.

22.00 – Technology has helped create the Tracking Point Scope, which creates a debate as to whether novice shooters are now able to become experienced shooters with the right tools.

She's the author of, "The Spychips Threat: Why Christians Should Resist RFID and Electronic Surveillance" and "Spychips: How Major Corporations and Government Plan to Track Your Every Purchase and Watch Your Every Move. "

Facebook recently conducted an experiment on its users, without their knowledge. Albrecht explains why this was wrong on so many levels and if Facebook will be punished for its actions.

Albrecht then discusses why RFIDs are against Christian principles. Corporations track our spending habits for marketing purposes. The government does it for security purposes. Albrecht talks about what the big deal is.

Dr. Katherine Albrecht is the director of CASPIAN (Consumers Against Supermarket Privacy Invasion and Numbering), an organization she founded in 1999 to advocate free-market, consumer-based solutions to the problem of retail privacy invasion.

Charles Goyette is the Host of "Ron Paul's America" radio show. He joins the podcast to give his dramatic solution to prevent the coming financial ruin.

Goyette believes the longstanding practice of crony capitalism strangles our economy. He thinks we need to reign in overseas spending and end American interventionism.

Goyette then explains whether it is fair for younger people to subsidize older people.

New York Times bestselling author Charles Goyette spent many years as an award-winning and popular Phoenix radio personality. Admired for his "Fearless Talk Radio," Charles was named Best Phoenix Talk Show Host by the New Times. Because of his insistence on holding all poiticians - regardless of party - accountable to the same strict standards, Charles was widely known as “America’s Most Independent Talk Show Host.” His years of experience as a financial professional have served his listeners well as he sounded the alarm about the mortgage bubble well in advance of the calamity and described the consequences of the governments reckless economic behavior in his clear, easy to understand manner.

Charles is no newcomer to the national economic debate. In fact, more than 25 years ago Charles arranged for a then little-known Texas Congressman named Ron Paul to be the keynote speaker at a series of monetary conferences he hosted. Goyette has often been called on to share his views with television audiences nationally on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, CNBC and Fox Business Channel, including on the Glenn Beck Show and The O’Reilly Factor with Bill O’Reilly on Fox News; NOW with Bill Moyers on PBS; and on Lou Dobbs Tonight on CNN, where he repeatedly warned before the current turmoil the "economic calamity the Republicans and Democrats" were creating. He has written for a number of magazines including The American Conservative and Gannett magazines, and for LewRockwell.com, CNBC.com, WorldNetDaily.com, and TheStreet.com

Singer is a Libertarian who has chosen to live in the jungle of Hawaii. He is against a proposed resolution to ban the introduction of non-native species to Hawaii.

Singer's book, "Dressed To Kill: The Link between Breast Cancer and Bras," changed medicine and the way women look at bras. Singer explains why he is calling for a boycott of Komen and discusses the criticisms he has received as a result.

Sydney Ross Singer is a medical anthropologist, the author of several groundbreaking and controversial health books, and the director of the Institute for the Study of Culturogenic Disease, located in Hawaii. He is best known for his revolutionary and shocking research linking breast cancer with the wearing of tight bras, which he describes in his book, Dressed To Kill. Using his training in biochemistry, anthropology and medicine, Sydney is pioneering a new field of health research, called Applied Medical Anthropology, shedding light on the many ways our culture is making us sick. Jim was born in Vernal, Utah, the 6th of 13 children. As the oldest boy at home, he was responsible for taking care of farm animals, including the cow, as well as the family garden. Jim admittedly didn't care much for it at the time, but through these experiences, learned valuable lessons on work and self-reliance.

Jim often speaks about his Church leaders in the late 70's challenging every family to grow a garden, and consequently a great many people in the mountain west got serious about growing vegetables. His family was no different and they embarked on a shared life long journey of self-reliance.

They continued to grow great gardens every year, and in 1989, acquired a 3/4 acre parcel of land adjacent to Utah’s Hogle Zoo, which was near their home. Incredibly, and through some promotion, 700,000 people per year saw the Kennard's garden.

Since 2002, Jim has worked in Turkey, Madagascar, multiple projects in Armenia and Georgia, and in Colombia, and has conducted many gardening seminars around the United States.

He's a crime contributor for CNN HLN and WildAboutTrial.com, crime blogger for the Huffington Post, former correspondent and producer of America's Most Wanted, and author of, "Whitey on Trial: Secrets, Corruption, and the Search for Truth."

James "Whitey" Bulger murdered 19 people, yet the government looked away when trying to investigate and prosecute him. The Justice Department cut deals with convicted murderers in order to secure testimony. Several of these men are now free on the streets of Boston. Bulger and his gang had willing accomplices in the FBI, public servants who not only looked the other way, but actually colluded in the crimes. Leiberman explains the government's motives and how Bulger got away with so much and if similar collusion is happening in today's government.

Leiberman then talks about his work for the Howard Stern Show. In 2004, he was fired by Sinclair Broadcast Group for publicly questioning the company's decision to air "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal," a 40-minute film critical of Presidential candidate John Kerry's role in the anti-war movement during the Vietnam War. Not everyone finds aluminum as fascinating as Dr. Christopher Exley, who happens to be one of the world’s leading experts on the topic. Some how, some way, the good doctor’s infectious enthusiasm is impossible to deny. Listen in on this episode of The Holistic Survival Show as host Jason Hartman interviews Dr. Exley about an intriguing paradox; how is it that the third most abundant element in the Earth’s crust is non-essential and largely harmful to life? His research over the last three decades has led him to investigate the silicon (the second most abundant element in the Earth’s crust) connection to aluminum, or more specifically, is it silicon’s primary duty to to keep aluminum from wreaking havoc with biology?

Exley is currently the Reader in Bioinorganic chemistry at The Birchall Centre, Keel University in Staffordshire and Honorary Professor at the UHI Millennium Institute. He is a biologist (University of Stirling) with a PhD in the ecotoxicology of aluminum. Strangely, this toxic element can be found in medicines, vaccines, deodorant, sunscreen, antacids, and more. The good news is that it can be easily leached from the body -  with silicon rich mineral water - which Exley believes is like a natural antidote.

In physical appearance, Dr. Exley brings to mind the wild-maned, eccentric look of Dr. Brown (ably played by Christopher Lloyd) from the mid-1980s movie trilogy Back to the Future. Don’t be fooled, though, this guy can teach you some serious science.

Born an only child into a house full of animals in Port Washington, New York, Jocelyn Kessler recognized at a young age that she had the ability to energetically communicate with animals. She could somehow “hear and understand” what the animals were saying when she spoke to them. At such a young age she had no idea about energy interpretation  or communication with forces outside the physical realm.

Later in life as a pre-teen, Jocelyn had a “near death” experience that allowed her to access certain special gifts that had previously been hidden and were now in the conscious mind. Her ability to interpret energy in animals increased due to her altered consciousness, and many of her spirit guides – both animal and human – began making themselves known to her.  With her heightened awareness, Jocelyn found herself able to feel and see more than ever in humans as well.  It was at this time that she began to use her newly found abilities to connect humans and animals.  Jocelyn soon discovered that another source of the connection emanated from her physically.

Currently living in Los Angeles, Jocelyn works in California and New York. Her practice is divided between connecting dogs to their humans and hands-on healing. In her new book, The Secret Language of Dogs, Jocelyn tells the story of her professional journey while imparting insights to readers that they can apply to their own human/animal relationships.

Erin Palmer had a devastating encounter with a psychopath as a child. Now a grad student and scientist, she's devoting her life to studying these monsters. When her research catches the attention of Hugh Raborn, a brilliant neuroscientist who claims to have isolated the genes responsible for psychopathic behavior, Erin realizes it may be possible to reverse the condition, restoring souls to psychopaths. A lot of people compare today’s economy in the U.S. with the Great Depression.  High unemployment figures that seem to be unrelenting, deflation and inflation, and various bubbles provide some interesting similarities.  Jason Hartman and returning guest, Devin Foley compare the historical events with today’s events, including government policies and programs designed to prop up the markets and ideally create jobs. Hear more at:  www.JasonHartman.com. As Devin points out, based on historical and present figures, the programs and wars that the government implies will help the economy do not in actuality pull us out of recession or depression. He also talks about other common myths about market corrections and other attempts to right the economy. Devin stresses that economic freedom rather than government interventions, while requiring an adjustment period initially, would ultimately result in recovery, with more realistic prices and a sustainable economy. “When government is taking big steps and big actions and getting very involved in people’s lives based on how people are voting,” warns Devin, “that’s a dangerous proposition to get into. That’s not something that’s going to lead to long-term stability.” Devin and Jason also talk about solutions to the U.S.’s current predicament.

Devin is co-founder and president of Intellectual Takeout (www.IntellectualTakeout.org ).  In his role, he oversees content development and marketing, works with academics and experts to assure quality, and publicly promotes the site.

Prior to co-founding Intellectual Takeout, Devin served as the Director of Development at the Center of the American Experiment, a state-based think tank in Minnesota, where he was responsible for meeting a $1 million annual budget. He has roughly eight years of fundraising and policy experience working for candidates and non-profit organizations. Additionally, he has been on 100.3 KTLK as well as Talk of the Nation on NPR and was named a 2011 Young Leader by the American Swiss Foundation.

Devin studied history and political science at Hillsdale College in Michigan. There he met his lovely wife; together they have three kids and live in Stillwater, Minnesota. Devin enjoys fast cars, long drives, great books, old planes, and nearly everything life throws his way.

Karen Hudes studied law at Yale Law School and economics at the University of Amsterdam. She worked in the US Export Import Bank of the US from 1980-1985 and in the Legal Department of the World Bank from 1986-2007. She established the Non Governmental Organization Committee of the International Law Section of the American Bar Association and the Committee on Multilateralism and the Accountability of International Organizations of the American Branch of the International Law Association.

In 1999 Karen reported the corrupt take-over of the second largest bank in the Philippines. The Bank’s Country Director in the Philippines reassigned Karen when she asked him to sign a letter warning the Philippines’ government that the Bank could not disburse its loan. Two days after informing the Board’s Audit Committee of the cover-up in the Philippines, Karen was reprimanded and placed on probation. The Chair of the World Bank’s Audit Committee requested an inquiry into the World Bank’s Institutional Integrity Department. The Senate Committee on Foreign Relations followed up with three letters to the World Bank. The World Bank forged documents and fired Karen in contempt of Congress.

In 2007 Karen advised the US Treasury Department and US Congress that the US would lose its right to appoint the President of the World Bank if the current American President of the World Bank did not play by the rules. The 66 year old Gentlemen’s Agreement that Europe would appoint the Managing Director of the IMF and US would appoint the World Bank President ended in 2010.

On this 10th show, Jason Hartman interviews author and leadership expert, Doug Conant on the topic of leadership models. In Doug’s book, Touch Points: Creating Powerful Leadership Connections in the Smallest of Moments, co-authored with Mette Norgaard, the small daily interactions that many view as interruptions are described as the greatest leadership opportunities in business, or touch points. These moments can be used as a method to promote the company’s values, purposes and agenda, while bringing about higher employee engagement and winning in the marketplace through improved growth. Touch points involve using the head, heart and hands to connect with and transform employees through listening, understanding and helping people advance their interactions in a significantly more effective way. Doug explains the “contribution profile,” which is asking, “How can I help?”  Listen at:  www.JasonHartman.com/podcast for details.

Practitioner Douglas R. Conant delivers a critical and transformative message for today’s times: Anyone, anywhere, can expand their influence and improve their results. Appointed President and CEO of Campbell Soup Company in 2001, he was the 11th leader in this iconic company’s 140-year history. Under Conant’s leadership, Campbell reversed a precipitous decline in market value and employee engagement — with much recognition since, including the prestigious 2010 Catalyst Award.

A key driver is Campbell’s success model: Winning in the workplace, winning in the marketplace, and winning in the community and doing it all with integrity. Conant joined the company with 25 years of experience with three of the world’s top food companies — General Mills, Kraft, and Nabisco. A native of Chicago, he earned his BA degree from Northwestern and his NBA from the Kellogg School of Management. "It's astonishing and it's only getting worse," Grady commented about the incredible amounts of information that has been labeled as 'secret' by our government. According to his research, the amount of government workers or contractors who have 'secret' or 'top secret' clearances is in the millions and could account for the entire population of the city of Chicago. Genae Girard and her lawsuit against Myriad Genetics may just have altered the course of humanity. Genae was the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit against the U.S. Patent Office and Myriad Genetics, who had been allowed to patent human genes that were associated with breast and ovarian cancer, then monopolize the testing procedure.

Genae was in her early 30's and diagnosed with having a gene (BRCA) that leads to cancer. When she asked for a 2nd opinion, she was told that not only was Myriad the only company that could do the test, but even they would not retest her.

Gene Patents

Incredibly, this was allowed to go on with the blessing of the U.S. Government. In fact many other companies had patents pending for all different kinds of human genes that have been voided due to Genae's lawsuit.

The Unanimous Supreme Court decision in June of 2013 said, among other things, that it is unconstitutional to patent anything that exists in nature. The justices also said that what Myriad had done by creating this monopoly hurt every woman who had the same diagnosis as Genae. They had been able to call all the shots in this field, including which insurance they would accept and had banked all the data relating to their diagnoses.

What the Supreme Court Ruling means

The ruling broke the monopoly of Myriad Genetics over this incredibly important test. They had been charging an astronomical $3,500 just for the test, but with competition now allowed again, the price should drop to $150. Possibly more importantly, other companies will not be able to patent parts of the human body. How this will effect a mega multinational corporation like Monsanto, who has patented their seeds, has yet to be seen. But needless to say, Genae and her co-plaintiffs have changed the world.

Ben is a rising star and touted by many as someone who will dominate "alternative media" in 2013 and beyond.Ben's weekly investigative piece, dubbed "Reality Check" attempts to go beyond the headlines of the biggest national stories and uncover the truth by giving his viewers the details that mainstream media is leaving out of their coverage. This segment far transcends his local viewing market and has earned Ben millions of YouTube views, and near 100,000 Facebook fans (or likes) on his two combined pages.

From Ben's own Facebook page:

National media has become so busy pushing an agenda they seem to forget the primary role of media is to hold those in power in check. My hope is that is what "Reality Check" will not only accomplish but will inspire in other journalists.

In Ben's budding career, he has won an Edward R Murrow award for Investigative Journalism and a Lone Star Emmy award in 2005. Although highly sought after by cable news and national network news, Ben has decided to take his own path and use his grassroots fan base to crowd-source an investigative journalism and alternative media project. Mark Walters is a nationally syndicated host of Armed American Radio and author of, "Lessons from Unarmed America." He joins the show to discuss the measures taken by Obama to reduce. gun violence and if any of them are realistic.

Walters has been penning The Ordinary Guy column as a regular contributor to Concealed Carry Magazine for over 5 years.   As a freelance writer for a local industrial trade publication and a vocal second amendment activist in Tampa, Florida, Mark’s letters and opinions  appeared many times in the Tampa Tribune.   His book, Lessons From Armed America, co-written with Kathy Jackson ( forward by Massad Ayoob), was released in October 2009 by Whitefeather Press and highlights the stories of those who found found themselves the victims of violent crime and either used a gun or wished they had one when they needed it most, including his own story.

In November of 2002 just two weeks after the birth of his daughter Lindsey, Mark found himself the intended victim of an attempted carjacking while approaching a traffic light on E. Fletcher Ave. in the Suitcase City section of Tampa, FL at 6:20 am on his way to work.  A well known drug and crime infested area bordering the University of South Florida, Mark passed through the area every day.  Luckily on that November morning he was carrying a Glock 36, 45 caliber handgun resting in a Sidearmor Kydex IWB holster.  When the criminals… both of them…found themselves unable to get into the vehicle stopped just off of his left bumper, they turned their attention to him.

Watching the frightening events unfold in front of him and happening at a frantic pace, Mark un-holstered his weapon and leveled his 45 at the criminal standing just feet away from him and approaching his vehicle.  When confronted with a gun pointed directly at his chest, the closest attacker waved off his partner and both men retreated to their vehicle.  Fleeing like the cowards they were, Mark was able to make it home alive that day.

That frightening experience became the subject of his first column with Concealed Carry Magazine titled “The Importance of Carrying Your Gun 100% of The Time”, now listed as one of Concealed Carry Magazines “Best of”.

Since that time, Mark writes about ordinary folks like you and I who have used a weapon to defend themselves as well as interviewing some of the nations biggest news makers and activists.  The list includes rock stars, country singers, radio personalities, national and local politicians, TV stars, internationally recognized trainers, weapons experts, criminal psychologists, television hosts, authors, real people who have used a firearm to defend themselves against violent attack and regular, ordinary folks who make a difference.

Mark was one of the headline speakers at the Second Amendment March in Washington, DC on April 19th, 2010 joining other guests such as Suzanna Hupp, Sheriff Mack, Dick Heller, Mancow, and others who proudly proclaimed the birthright of every American to keep and bear arms.  He has appeared numerous times as a guest on local and national radio shows including a co-hosting appearance on the nationally syndicated G. Gordon Liddy show.  In addition, Mark was a recent guest on Fox Businees Channel’s The Stossel Show, with John Stossel to discuss the topic of More Guns, Less Crime and appears weekly as a guest on the popular live web TV program, American Trigger Sports Network with host James Towle to discuss the right to self-defense every Wednesday afternoon at www.atsn.tv.

Mark is a member of the NRA, an NRA Certified Instructor in three disciplines, a member of the National Shooting Sports Foundation as well as a card carrying member of GeorgiaCarry.org, the Gun Owners of America and a vocal 2nd amendment activist.   In the spare time of his “real life,” he ran his own successful business for over 13 years and now works full time to bring you Armed American Radio.

He also believes that anyone who has been suckered by Al Gore is, well… a sucker.

Mark defends our freedoms on AAR with the RIGHT voice at the RIGHT time and brings a frank discussion of the right to defend your life to FREEDOM loving Americans EVERY week.
