Born an only child into a house full of animals in Port Washington, New York, Jocelyn Kessler recognized at a young age that she had the ability to energetically communicate with animals. She could somehow “hear and understand” what the animals were saying when she spoke to them. At such a young age she had no idea about energy interpretation  or communication with forces outside the physical realm.

Later in life as a pre-teen, Jocelyn had a “near death” experience that allowed her to access certain special gifts that had previously been hidden and were now in the conscious mind. Her ability to interpret energy in animals increased due to her altered consciousness, and many of her spirit guides – both animal and human – began making themselves known to her.  With her heightened awareness, Jocelyn found herself able to feel and see more than ever in humans as well.  It was at this time that she began to use her newly found abilities to connect humans and animals.  Jocelyn soon discovered that another source of the connection emanated from her physically.

Currently living in Los Angeles, Jocelyn works in California and New York. Her practice is divided between connecting dogs to their humans and hands-on healing. In her new book, The Secret Language of Dogs, Jocelyn tells the story of her professional journey while imparting insights to readers that they can apply to their own human/animal relationships.

A lot of people compare today’s economy in the U.S. with the Great Depression.  High unemployment figures that seem to be unrelenting, deflation and inflation, and various bubbles provide some interesting similarities.  Jason Hartman and returning guest, Devin Foley compare the historical events with today’s events, including government policies and programs designed to prop up the markets and ideally create jobs. Hear more at:  www.JasonHartman.com. As Devin points out, based on historical and present figures, the programs and wars that the government implies will help the economy do not in actuality pull us out of recession or depression. He also talks about other common myths about market corrections and other attempts to right the economy. Devin stresses that economic freedom rather than government interventions, while requiring an adjustment period initially, would ultimately result in recovery, with more realistic prices and a sustainable economy. “When government is taking big steps and big actions and getting very involved in people’s lives based on how people are voting,” warns Devin, “that’s a dangerous proposition to get into. That’s not something that’s going to lead to long-term stability.” Devin and Jason also talk about solutions to the U.S.’s current predicament.

Devin is co-founder and president of Intellectual Takeout (www.IntellectualTakeout.org ).  In his role, he oversees content development and marketing, works with academics and experts to assure quality, and publicly promotes the site.

Prior to co-founding Intellectual Takeout, Devin served as the Director of Development at the Center of the American Experiment, a state-based think tank in Minnesota, where he was responsible for meeting a $1 million annual budget. He has roughly eight years of fundraising and policy experience working for candidates and non-profit organizations. Additionally, he has been on 100.3 KTLK as well as Talk of the Nation on NPR and was named a 2011 Young Leader by the American Swiss Foundation.

Devin studied history and political science at Hillsdale College in Michigan. There he met his lovely wife; together they have three kids and live in Stillwater, Minnesota. Devin enjoys fast cars, long drives, great books, old planes, and nearly everything life throws his way.

Karen Hudes studied law at Yale Law School and economics at the University of Amsterdam. She worked in the US Export Import Bank of the US from 1980-1985 and in the Legal Department of the World Bank from 1986-2007. She established the Non Governmental Organization Committee of the International Law Section of the American Bar Association and the Committee on Multilateralism and the Accountability of International Organizations of the American Branch of the International Law Association.

In 1999 Karen reported the corrupt take-over of the second largest bank in the Philippines. The Bank’s Country Director in the Philippines reassigned Karen when she asked him to sign a letter warning the Philippines’ government that the Bank could not disburse its loan. Two days after informing the Board’s Audit Committee of the cover-up in the Philippines, Karen was reprimanded and placed on probation. The Chair of the World Bank’s Audit Committee requested an inquiry into the World Bank’s Institutional Integrity Department. The Senate Committee on Foreign Relations followed up with three letters to the World Bank. The World Bank forged documents and fired Karen in contempt of Congress.

In 2007 Karen advised the US Treasury Department and US Congress that the US would lose its right to appoint the President of the World Bank if the current American President of the World Bank did not play by the rules. The 66 year old Gentlemen’s Agreement that Europe would appoint the Managing Director of the IMF and US would appoint the World Bank President ended in 2010.

On this 10th show, Jason Hartman interviews author and leadership expert, Doug Conant on the topic of leadership models. In Doug’s book, Touch Points: Creating Powerful Leadership Connections in the Smallest of Moments, co-authored with Mette Norgaard, the small daily interactions that many view as interruptions are described as the greatest leadership opportunities in business, or touch points. These moments can be used as a method to promote the company’s values, purposes and agenda, while bringing about higher employee engagement and winning in the marketplace through improved growth. Touch points involve using the head, heart and hands to connect with and transform employees through listening, understanding and helping people advance their interactions in a significantly more effective way. Doug explains the “contribution profile,” which is asking, “How can I help?”  Listen at:  www.JasonHartman.com/podcast for details.

Practitioner Douglas R. Conant delivers a critical and transformative message for today’s times: Anyone, anywhere, can expand their influence and improve their results. Appointed President and CEO of Campbell Soup Company in 2001, he was the 11th leader in this iconic company’s 140-year history. Under Conant’s leadership, Campbell reversed a precipitous decline in market value and employee engagement — with much recognition since, including the prestigious 2010 Catalyst Award.

A key driver is Campbell’s success model: Winning in the workplace, winning in the marketplace, and winning in the community and doing it all with integrity. Conant joined the company with 25 years of experience with three of the world’s top food companies — General Mills, Kraft, and Nabisco. A native of Chicago, he earned his BA degree from Northwestern and his NBA from the Kellogg School of Management. Conant’s new book with co-author Mette Norgaard, available now, is TouchPoints: Creating Powerful Leadership Connections in the Smallest of Moments (Jossey-Bass). Genae Girard and her lawsuit against Myriad Genetics may just have altered the course of humanity. Genae was the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit against the U.S. Patent Office and Myriad Genetics, who had been allowed to patent human genes that were associated with breast and ovarian cancer, then monopolize the testing procedure.

Genae was in her early 30's and diagnosed with having a gene (BRCA) that leads to cancer. When she asked for a 2nd opinion, she was told that not only was Myriad the only company that could do the test, but even they would not retest her.

Gene Patents

Incredibly, this was allowed to go on with the blessing of the U.S. Government. In fact many other companies had patents pending for all different kinds of human genes that have been voided due to Genae's lawsuit.

The Unanimous Supreme Court decision in June of 2013 said, among other things, that it is unconstitutional to patent anything that exists in nature. The justices also said that what Myriad had done by creating this monopoly hurt every woman who had the same diagnosis as Genae. They had been able to call all the shots in this field, including which insurance they would accept and had banked all the data relating to their diagnoses.

What the Supreme Court Ruling means

The ruling broke the monopoly of Myriad Genetics over this incredibly important test. They had been charging an astronomical $3,500 just for the test, but with competition now allowed again, the price should drop to $150. Possibly more importantly, other companies will not be able to patent parts of the human body. How this will effect a mega multinational corporation like Monsanto, who has patented their seeds, has yet to be seen. But needless to say, Genae and her co-plaintiffs have changed the world.

Mark Walters is a nationally syndicated host of Armed American Radio and author of, "Lessons from Unarmed America." He joins the show to discuss the measures taken by Obama to reduce. gun violence and if any of them are realistic.

Walters has been penning The Ordinary Guy column as a regular contributor to Concealed Carry Magazine for over 5 years.   As a freelance writer for a local industrial trade publication and a vocal second amendment activist in Tampa, Florida, Mark’s letters and opinions  appeared many times in the Tampa Tribune.   His book, Lessons From Armed America, co-written with Kathy Jackson ( forward by Massad Ayoob), was released in October 2009 by Whitefeather Press and highlights the stories of those who found found themselves the victims of violent crime and either used a gun or wished they had one when they needed it most, including his own story.

In November of 2002 just two weeks after the birth of his daughter Lindsey, Mark found himself the intended victim of an attempted carjacking while approaching a traffic light on E. Fletcher Ave. in the Suitcase City section of Tampa, FL at 6:20 am on his way to work.  A well known drug and crime infested area bordering the University of South Florida, Mark passed through the area every day.  Luckily on that November morning he was carrying a Glock 36, 45 caliber handgun resting in a Sidearmor Kydex IWB holster.  When the criminals… both of them…found themselves unable to get into the vehicle stopped just off of his left bumper, they turned their attention to him.

Watching the frightening events unfold in front of him and happening at a frantic pace, Mark un-holstered his weapon and leveled his 45 at the criminal standing just feet away from him and approaching his vehicle.  When confronted with a gun pointed directly at his chest, the closest attacker waved off his partner and both men retreated to their vehicle.  Fleeing like the cowards they were, Mark was able to make it home alive that day.

That frightening experience became the subject of his first column with Concealed Carry Magazine titled “The Importance of Carrying Your Gun 100% of The Time”, now listed as one of Concealed Carry Magazines “Best of”.

Since that time, Mark writes about ordinary folks like you and I who have used a weapon to defend themselves as well as interviewing some of the nations biggest news makers and activists.  The list includes rock stars, country singers, radio personalities, national and local politicians, TV stars, internationally recognized trainers, weapons experts, criminal psychologists, television hosts, authors, real people who have used a firearm to defend themselves against violent attack and regular, ordinary folks who make a difference.

Mark was one of the headline speakers at the Second Amendment March in Washington, DC on April 19th, 2010 joining other guests such as Suzanna Hupp, Sheriff Mack, Dick Heller, Mancow, and others who proudly proclaimed the birthright of every American to keep and bear arms.  He has appeared numerous times as a guest on local and national radio shows including a co-hosting appearance on the nationally syndicated G. Gordon Liddy show.  In addition, Mark was a recent guest on Fox Businees Channel’s The Stossel Show, with John Stossel to discuss the topic of More Guns, Less Crime and appears weekly as a guest on the popular live web TV program, American Trigger Sports Network with host James Towle to discuss the right to self-defense every Wednesday afternoon at www.atsn.tv.

Mark is a member of the NRA, an NRA Certified Instructor in three disciplines, a member of the National Shooting Sports Foundation as well as a card carrying member of GeorgiaCarry.org, the Gun Owners of America and a vocal 2nd amendment activist.   In the spare time of his “real life,” he ran his own successful business for over 13 years and now works full time to bring you Armed American Radio.

He also believes that anyone who has been suckered by Al Gore is, well… a sucker.

Mark defends our freedoms on AAR with the RIGHT voice at the RIGHT time and brings a frank discussion of the right to defend your life to FREEDOM loving Americans EVERY week.

Eleven out of 50 states have now introduced resolutions into their state legislatures calling on Congress to pass Marcy Kaptur's H.R. 129 to re-instate Glass-Steagall, and South Dakota has become the first state to pass the resolution through both houses.Jason interviews Michael Kirsch of LaRouche PAC about the efforts to reinstate the act. These resolutions have broad bi-partisan support, as the matter or bankruptcy reorganization of the banking system is a matter of national prosperity.  Here is a state by state breakdown of co-sponsors for state resolutions, and national co-sponsors of Kaptur's bill. These were inspired by normal citizens contact their elected representatives with the great need for action, and the more state legislators which can be inspired to put pressure in this way on Congress, the better.  Glass-Steagall will enable the commercial banking system, though with a shrunken but purified capital, to become an agency of a national credit system guided by a chief lending institution for national infrastructure projects and associated industries. Listen for more information at: www.HolisticSurvival.com.

Michael has written for a new credit Bank of the United States to lend for national industry and agriculture, modeled on the system of public credit of Alexander Hamilton, Mathew Carey, and John Quincy Adams, and Roosevelt's Reconstruction Finance Corporation's industrial loans. A video presentation of the history is available. It would broaden and define the guiding boundaries of the economy as a permanent coordinating agency for credit agreements, rather than serve as a special emergency institution.

Historical studies of countries, governments, economics, populations, cultures and more offer numerous insights into how the world reached its current state. A more traditional view is The Accidental View of History, which holds that no one really knows why events happen – they just do. There is also the Conspiratorial View of History. Jason Hartman interviews historian, author and lecturer Ralph Epperson about Ralph’s book, Unseen Hand: An Introduction to the Conspiratorial View of History. Ralph addresses the conspiracies behind the numerous wars and revolutions across the globe, the depressions and recessions, and he discusses the creation of the Federal Reserve and the foundation of the I.R.S.

Ralph Epperson is an historian, author, and lecturer who has been researching the CONSPIRATORIAL VIEW OF HISTORY (the view that the major events of the past have been planned years in advance by a central conspiracy) for 50 years. He has written or produced four "best-selling" books entitled THE UNSEEN HAND, THE NEW WORLD ORDER, MASONRY: CONSPIRACY AGAINST CHRISTIANITY, JESSE JAMES, UNITED STATES SENATOR, six booklets, and 15 DVDs.

He is a graduate of the University of Arizona, but freely admits that what he has learned since graduation has taught him that most of what he learned in college in History and Political Science simply is not true. He proudly states that his research has proven to him that there has been an active conspiracy in the world planning major wars, depressions, and inflations years in advance.

Mira Calton is a Certified Nutritionist and author of, "RICH FOOD POOR FOOD: The Ultimate Grocery Purchasing System." She shares five tips to avoid GMOs and also gives 20 fruits and vegetables that should always be purchased organic.

Nowadays, many food labels say "Natural." The contents actually may not be as "natural" as you may think. Calton explains this, as well as what food coloring is also made of. There's a lot of marketing going around about placenta pills. They seem healthy, but beware!

Mira Calton, CN, FAAIM, DCCN, CMS, CPFC, BCIH is a Licensed Certified Nutritionist, a Fellow of the American Association of Integrative Medicine, a Diplomate of the College of Clinical Nutrition, a Board Certified Micronutrient Specialist, Certified Personal Fitness Chef, and is Board Certified in Integrative Health. She holds a Diploma in Comprehensive Nutrition from Huntington College of Health Sciences, and has completed the Yale University School of Medicine's OWCH (Online Weight Management Counseling for Healthcare Providers) program and sits on the American Board of Integrative Health (ABIH). Mira's interest in the world of nutrition came by way of personal experience. Prior to beginning her life in the nutritional spotlight, she owned and ran her own successful public relations firm in Manhattan specializing in high-end fashion, film and restaurant promotion. She traveled and lectured extensively throughout Canada and the United States to large corporate clients such as Johnson and Johnson, Price Waterhouse Coopers, CitiGroup and ING direct. However, her bustling career came to an abrupt halt when she was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis at the age of 30. No longer able to run the thriving public relations firm that she had worked so hard to build, Mira went on a mission outside of the traditional medical community to find an answer to her dismal diagnosis. Her drive and determination led her all the way to Orlando, Florida where she met nutritional guru, Jayson Calton. The two worked together to create a drug-free, micronutrient based program, which not only completely reversed Mira's advanced osteoporosis, but also inspired them both to make the study of micronutrient deficiency the focus of their lives.

HS 128 - War & the Mark of the Beast with Rev Irvin Baxter

The book of Revelations has been interpreted as the end of times, with many variations on the “how,” “when,” and “who.” Because this book of the Bible is written in metaphors, it is impossible to determine the actual end of time as we know it, but it may be possible to connect the dots of the different prophesied events. Reverend Irvin Baxter believes that most of the events have already happened and that a catastrophic war in the very near future is eminent. Revelations predicts this war will begin at the Euphrates River, an area currently riddled with tension and of concern to the world. The countries along the river are Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq. Rev. Baxter shares his research and thoughts on historic and current political, economic and health world events and how they may relate to the prophecies of the Bible. He feels the next prophecy to be fulfilled will be a war that will kill one-third of mankind.  For more details, visit:  www.HolisticSurvival.com.

Irvin Baxter is the founder and president of Endtime Ministries. He is a television and radio host, author, publisher, and international prophecy teacher. Irvin felt God call him to start traveling as an evangelist at the age of 19. He began pastoring when he was 27, and continued for 33 years until he made the decision to devote all of his time to Endtime Ministries, which focuses on explaining world events from a biblical perspective.

Irvin authored A Message for the President in 1986. In the book, he identified for the first time the United States, Great Britain, Russia, and other modern nations in the Bible. He also stated that the Berlin Wall would be torn down; East and West Germany would be reunited; and that these events would be the catalyst that would propel the world into the New World Order. The Wall did come down in 1989, and we have continually heard about the New World Order ever since.

In 1998 Irvin Baxter launched a daily radio talk show called Politics and Religion. He regularly conducts prophecy conferences throughout the United States. In March 2006, IrvinBaxter launched the “No National ID” campaign to make people aware of the dangers of “The Real ID Act” which President Bush signed on May 11, 2005. This topic was discussed in detail in the May/June 2006 edition of Endtime magazine. As a result of these and other efforts, the full implementation of the “Real ID Act” has been postponed for the third time, until January 15, 2013. His website is http://www.endtime.com/.

HS 127 - “Silver Circle” Movie with Pasha Roberts

Jason Hartman is joined on this episode by Pasha Roberts, creator of the upcoming movie, “Silver Circle.” Pasha Roberts is the founder of an animation studio outside of Boston, Lineplot Productions. He is currently Director of its major production underway, Silver Circle. Lineplot began as an animation studio that provided 3D graphics to explain complicated economic situations to their corporate clients. Then they decided to take the creative route, creating an animated movie set in the future of hyperinflation and the collapse of the Central Banks. Pasha and Jason discuss several of the facets of the movie, including government seizure of commodities, such as precious metals and property, and freezing accounts. Pasha explains that once trust in the system is lost, there is no regaining it, and one likely scenario is a rebellion, with citizens taking matters into their own hands.

Silver Circle is a film set in 2019 after a severe economic collapse. A group of Rebels are devising a plan to take down the culprit of this economic calamity, the Federal Reserve. One way they fight the Fed is through competition...they mint their own silver underground to disperse in the community in hopes to make the dollar obsolete. It is all wrapped into a love story that unfolds as an investigator from the Fed meets a Rebel and has to choose which side he is on. Their mission is to entertain and educate, and no, you don't have to be well-versed in economics to enjoy the film.

Pasha holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Russian Studies from The College of William and Mary, and a Masters of Science in Financial Engineering from the MIT Sloan School of Management. In addition to his MIT degree, his background includes twenty years of software development and successful entrepreneurship experience.

As a person who loves mathematics, graphic design, and liberty, Pasha’s corporate experience has molded him into a creative machine who believes using media and art to convey messages of social change can succeed.

HS 126 - Fortified Homes and Hardened Structures with Brian Camden

Economic tensions, nuclear and EMP threats, and acts of terrorism, both domestic and abroad, have people concerned about their safety and survival. During the Cold War, bomb shelters or fallout shelters became very popular. Today, your own home can provide the protection you need from whatever threats about which you are most concerned. Jason Hartman is joined by Brian Camden, Principal of Hardened Structures Hardened Shelters LLC, to talk about fortified homes, underground bunkers, protection and action plans, and how many shelters are designed. Brian explains the construction designs and the level of security available. These hardened structures can be built as a nice-looking home or second home or as an addition to an existing home, most often with underground shelters, that are fully sustainable off the grid. Brian shares some of the most important reasons that more and more homeowners are requesting fortified homes or shelters.  For more details, listen at: www.HolisticSurvival.com.

Hardened Structures Hardened Shelters LLC is a Construction Program Management firm (http://www.hardenedstructures.com/). HS 125 - Energy and Space with Sir Charles Shults III

Jason Hartman interviews scientist and inventor, Sir Charles Shults III, regarding the world’s energy technology and his research on Mars and why it is important. Sir Charles explains the problems with some energy technologies, including the environmental issues and financial costs. He points out that the companies producing these technologies are not scientists, only really understanding the price side of things. Jason and Sir Charles talk about solar, nuclear, wind energy and more. Nuclear energy is thought of as a dangerous alternative due to disasters around the world, but the designs and the answers exist to make this energy source safe. The problem is that the government has made recycling of nuclear waste illegal, except by the military, for fear of the creation of nuclear weapons by anyone in the private sector. Our biggest problem with solar and wind industry is a lack of storage. Sir Charles explains that we can harness more than enough power for the world, but we don’t have the storage capacity. He encourages more research in the energy field.

The second half of the interview moves from our planet to space. Sir Charles states that we have answers to every problem. People don’t understand the importance of learning to survive in space, which would bring us the means to survive far more efficiently on the ground. He and Jason also explore weather control and advanced weaponry and defense systems already invented and in use. For more about alternative power systems, personal automation and sustainability, please visit: www.HolisticSurvival.com. HS 124 - Scripting for Humanity with Duane Elgin

Humanity faces many challenges, such as climate disruptions, species extinction, shortage of cheap oil, overpopulation, limited resources – a list that could go on and on. But Jason Hartman’s guest on this episode, internationally recognized author Duane Elgin says the biggest concern is how urgent we see our situation. What Duane sees developing are these trends converging into the “perfect storm,” a crisis of all of the world’s systems. This means political systems, economic systems, social systems, spiritual and religious systems that have overextended themselves, requiring humanity to pull together. He feels this will happen around the 2020s. Duane explains humanity’s separation from nature and from one another, stating we have succeeded so well that we’ve run into our limits and undermined our future success. His stories suggest ways for the human race to pull together, to create sustainability, stressing that system breakdown is actually good news in order to move into a new relationship with one another and the Earth. It’s a fact – many people suffer a mid-life crisis between the ages of 40 and 60. It is a transition period during which one realizes their life may be half over and they reflect on their accomplishments in life, their regrets, and what they would still like to do. Jason Hartman interviews author, Michael Cosgrove, who endured what he called a three-quarter life crisis at the age of 60 that led to his book, Imperfect Passage. Michael had a great life that he had worked hard to achieve – a beautiful family, a successful career, and a lovely home in southern California with views of the Pacific Ocean. But Michael was not taking to the idea of old age well. He wanted to establish a legacy for his family and decided to “shake things up” by embarking on a long and dangerous adventure to attempt to sail around the world.

Michael was not prepared for the rigors of such an adventure and suffered many hardships and mental and emotional stress, including a dangerous crew member with a personality disorder. Michael talks about the biggest surprise that came from this attempt, the psychological impact. On the ocean, he noted, you lose all of your control, which required him to adapt to the environmental conditions and get a grip on his attitude.  As Michael says, “You can’t change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails.” Another lesson he learned was to recognize the difference between a temporary inconvenience and a real problem. Listen at:  www.HolisticSurvival.com for more about Michael’s rough voyage that ultimately led to some of the best lessons about life. Michael Cosgrove earned his BS from Michigan State University and his Masters in psychology from Western Michigan University. He has been a teacher, a coach, a psychologist (MA), a model and an actor. For the past 32 years, he has been masquerading as an insurance agent. The writing process for his book was an emotional experience for him because he has always battled debilitating Dyslexia. First, he hears the words in his head, then feels them in his heart, and they come out of his fingertips onto the keys of his computer. His hope is that his message in Imperfect Passage will add value to the lives of his readers. He realized it’s not about him, or the book, but what he can offer the audience as a result of his experience. He hopes the readers will find meaning in the power of success, as well as the lessons of defeat.

Think about the times you have lied about something.  Were they little white lies to save face or to protect someone? Was there a big lie that led to another lie or that, once learned, hurt someone deeply or caused a serious trust issue?  On this episode, Jason Hartman interviews expert interrogator, Greg Hartley, author of How to Spot a Liar: Why People Don’t Tell the Truth…and How You Can Catch Them. Greg explains that on the continuum of normal, there are three reasons people lie:  Love, hate and greed. He also says there are people who lie for self-preservation, while there are people who lie for sport to see what they can get away with in life. Greg describes the positions of interrogator and confessor. He mentions there are 14 different ploys that interrogators use that are tied to the ego, love, hate and greed. Airplane safety has improved significantly, but there are improvements that can still be made to remove the fear that many people feel when boarding a plane. Author Dave Soucie joins Jason Hartman on this episode to talk about advances in safety and what still needs to be done. The biggest concern today is complacency, while the biggest improvement has been the implementation of Aviation Safety Information Analysis & Sharing (ASIAS), which allows for the exchange of information on precursors that may cause accidents down the road. David’s take on this is that there is a lot of room for improvement yet. He states that even the passengers are part of the safety system, stressing they need to be aware and if they see something concerning, be bold and speak up. David describes the FAA’s responsibilities and the standard regulations around the world. He also talks about the importance of the TSA, not disregarding blatant overstepping by some TSA agents, but the necessity of keeping airspace safe.

There have been many horrific airline crashes and David tells the stories behind those crashes. The way accidents are most often looked at is pilot error. But David asks the question, what caused the problem in the first place that resulted in a pilot needing to troubleshoot? The initial cause can be critical, such as faulty equipment that the airline companies know need to be replaced, but choose not to do immediately.  David and Jason close with general aviation tips and advice. Airplane crashes may be rare, but they do happen, and they’re usually fatal.  David Soucie insists that most of these deaths could be prevented.

Soucie’s worked in the cockpit, on the hanger floor, within the aviation boardroom, and inside the Washington D.C. beltway.  He’s seen death up close and personal ─ deaths of colleagues and friends that might have been prevented if he had approved certain safety measures in the aircraft they were handling.  This memoir is a gripping description of what Soucie saw and experienced as he worked in the aviation industry.  He’s now focused on understanding the hazards and risks of air travel.  As such, he is a regular consultant on the topic, from advising the Obama administration on airline safety management systems to taking a leading role as industry representative in the congressionally funded NextGen interdepartmental initiative to examine the challenges of aviation in the near future, not only for the Department of Transportation, but also for the departments of defense and Homeland Security, NASA, and the Office of National Intelligence. Since leaving the FAA in 2006, Soucie has analyzed nearly every major air disaster.  From January 2007 to June 2010, there were 240 commercial airplane accidents, 28 crashes on scheduled airlines that resulted in 1,795 deaths.

It is commonly known that cannabis (marijuana) helps with glaucoma and the side effects of chemotherapy. What isn’t widely known is that our bodies possess an endocannabinoid system, which regulates almost every system of our health. The phytocannabinoids produced in marijuana are very similar in molecular structure to the cannabinoids that our bodies produce. Author Clint Werner joins Jason Hartman to discuss studies that have proven the health benefits of marijuana, including for the treatment of Alzheimers, protecting the health of diabetics and fight the spread of breast cancer cells. Clint talks about the demonizing of marijuana that started in the ‘30s by Federal agents and a journalist spreading “reefer madness” throughout the country. He also discusses needed reforms. Other facts about marijuana include protecting the brain by reducing inflammation and by stimulating the production of healthy new brain cells and reducing the risk of chronic, long-term smokers for developing lung cancer. Additionally, Clint talks about the differences between strains of marijuana grown in various climates and conditions, including indoors in artificial light versus outdoors in sunlight; the health benefits of THC; smoking versus vaporization; and the numerous forms in which it is available, such as tinctures and salves.

Clint Werner has degrees in journalism and library science and has worked in the field of preventive health care for over 25 years. He studied macrobiotic cooking and practice in Boston in 1985, relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area where he co-authored the San Francisco Police Department’s health and fitness plan in 1987 and worked teaching AIDS, cancer and heart disease patients how to improve their health with diet and lifestyle changes. His writing has appeared in the book Cannabis Therapeutics in HIV/AIDS, the Journal of Cannabis Therapeutics, Macrobiotics Today, Canine Chronicle, the San Francisco Sentinel and other publications. Clint has been named “Activist of the Month” for June by NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
